This couldn't be more true. And coming from someone who has worked in retail for many years, I cannot tell you the disgust that I feel when I see some of the recent commercials for black friday sales. Having stores open at midnight on Black Friday is bad enough, but when I heard that Sears is opening at 8pm tonight, just a few short hours after everyone sits down to eat with their loved ones, enjoy their blessings in life and maybe a little football, stores will be opening and starting this retail nonsense. Why must we interrupt Thanksgiving for sales? Why can't stores start sales on Wednesday, like we did at American Eagle (I knew I loved this company) and several other stores in the mall did, take Thursday off to relax and then start the holiday shopping craze again at normal times on Friday? That way everyone can enjoy the full day of Thanksgiving. Is there sometime super appealing about leaving after Thanksgiving dinner to go freeze your butt off all night until the stores open and then run around like a crazy person to score all the good deals? I have to admit I gave in to the craziness once to hit up an outlet mall and I swore to myself NEVER again. I left right after Thanksgiving dinner around 7pm, drove an hour to the place and huddled under a blanket with my portable DVD player for the next 4 hours. And I barely bought anything to make it worth it! I mean, if you want to surf the internet from the comfort of your home and score some good deals, that I can see. But the fact that people have died on black Friday due to being trampled, well that is just disgusting. For those of you who are going out, please be courteous of one another. The savings you may get is never worth the well being of another. XOXO

I don't know how everyone else feels about flea markets, yard sales and things of that nature, but I can tell you I have been hooked for a while now. I really enjoy supporting small businesses and it makes me feel good to be able to buy something second hand and help someone out rather than buying over priced things from massive companies (the $avings help too!). I am fortunate to live close by a giant flea market that happens once every month from April to November, sadly it has been getting smaller every year. HGTV was actually just filming at the flea market the other weekend! They have all kinds of vendors from homemade pickles -yum!- and kettle corn to fashion clothing to handy men, and then an entire section dedicated to yard sale type things. I have a few MUST visit places that I go to without fail. There is an amazing make up tent ran by a husband and wife duo who own a make up warehouse. Sometimes you can find super steals from them - like this past weekend I got a double pack of Maybelline mascaras (MY FAVORITE!), a white eyeliner which I love for highlighting my eyes, and a Maybelline blush for $3! Another must stop tent is an accessories tent that I religiously buy from. I have to say she has really raised the prices, but she also does jewelry parties, so that might just have to happen! (I will have to update this blog with pictures of the things I have gotten from her!) Matt and I also found these gorgeous trunks that we will be getting for our house next year :) This is a haul from one of my recent trips as well! BareMinerals foundation, MAC bronzer, sparkly lop gloss, amazing eyeliner and mascara that I usually buy from Sephora's for like double the price ANDDD to super cute scarves. I wish I had a breakdown of prices, but I can't remember for the life of me what they all were. I do know I didn't spend more than $50.
Is anyone else a flea market fanatic like I am? How do you get the best deals? What do you look for? I want to hear from you! XOXO So the website is FINALLY up and running without any problems! I am so excited to be launching my own webstore and bring you all a little of what I love. The product selection is small for now, but I plan to get in a bunch of new items ASAP. For everyone asking about Country Barbie shirts, right now the only thing I have in stock are the tanks that are listed. I will be doing a preorder again for new tanks (and tees & hoodies) hopefully the end of this week, and these sizes will run from S-3XL so hang tight and check the facebook for updates on that. The way preorders work is as follows: You select and pay for your color and size tank and I set up a specified day to close all preorders. I then place the order for all preordered tanks and they take 2 weeks to get to me. Then I ship them out to you. This process can take about 3 weeks from the time you place your order. I hope to open pre orders this week and close them on Black Friday in order to get all packages out to everyone before the holidays, but again check the facebook for announcements on this! I also have a bunch of jewelry and accessories listed on the site that are all in stock, but once sold out will take me a few weeks to get back in stock.
I will be frequently updating the webstore and hope to have the entire website completely finished this week! Thanks to everyone for hanging in there and being patient with me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of my fans! XOXO countrybarbie.storenvy.com I have been hard at work on the new Country Barbie website. I know everyone is anxiously awaiting the reveal. The site will go live on 11/11 and I couldn't be more excited! The link is www.countrybarbie.com
Right now the website will have a few Country Barbie apparel items, fashion tops, a few plus size items, lots of accessories and a few other odds and ends. Please keep in mind I have fronted the costs of all of these things from my own pocket and the website will grow with time, but items will be in limited supplies. I have just about drained my bank account to share items I love with my Barbie Brigade. To everyone who ordered tanks - I have finally received them today and am working on getting them all in the mail between today and tomorrow so you will have them next week! Here is a list of people who I received orders from: Nichole M, Rhonda S, Shasta L, Rachel R, Danielle M, Nicole R, Rachel G, Kaleisha H, Lindsey A, Kristen S, Kathryn G, Lauren R, Samantha G, Robyn B, Sonya M, Katherine R, Alysia A, Rachel B, Kimberly D, Kasey J, Lauren S, Amy N If you do not see your name on the list I never received payment, check your email and make sure payment was sent to [email protected]. Please contact me to discuss further! I appreciate everyone's patience with me through this process! We will no longer be doing pre orders and will be only selling items IN STOCK so you will never have to wait this long again. But again thank you for the support and patience with me! I also launched a sister page for everyone to upload their own photos to : www.facebook.com/barbiebrigade I get swamped with emails and feel bad that I cannot post everyone's awesome pictures, but now you can share them yourself! :) Okay, I think that's everything I had to fill you in on! Stay pretty ladies! XOXO CB |
About the AuthorHey ya’ll, my name is Brittany. I am from a small town in upstate New York, yes NY, no it’s not all city here. I am 29 and grew up in Westchester County, that’s where I get my ‘accent’ from (it’s about an hour north of the Big Apple). I started this page to share the idea that you don’t have to fit a certain mold or standard someone else has. I like pink and sparkles, I surround myself with beautiful things, but I know how to get down and dirty with the best of them. Categories |
