SleekEZ Grooming Tool I received my SleekEZ in my Horse Box a while back and it has since become a staple Spring item at the barn for me. I love it because it not only helps remove hair, but dirt and dander too! If you have a horse who grows a thick coat, the SleekEZ is a must have! https://www.sleekez.com/products/10-sleekez-horse-grooming-shedding-tool Grooming Gloves There are several options on the market, but I found mine on Amazon for under $10 and they have lasted me years. I love grooming gloves because you can gauge how much pressure you are using on more sensitive areas. MUCK Boots Boots are always a must have, and even more so in the Spring. The constantly wet weather from melting snow and spring rain showers, can often leave you with mud up to your ankles. Muck boots are fashionable, easy to clean and so comfortable! Fly Spray I swear by this fly spray. I first started using it when I ran a barn of 15 horses and one of the boarders used it. I've often wondered if fly spray really works, but always feel bad when the horses get irritated and frustrated when the flies strike. So I have tried numerous products and I always go back to Pyranha. What are your horse barn must haves? Let me know if there is something you think I should try. XOXO, Country Barbie

For those of you new to Country Barbie, the blog all started with my horse Dakota. I adopted him back when he was 21 turning 22, and I am happy to say that as of April 1st he is now 29! When I tell non horse people how old my horse is, the reaction is generally the same – ‘Wow! How old do horses live?’ And while I do know he is getting up there in age, I appreciate everything he has taught me in our years together. Dakota has been the biggest blessing. He has taught me patience and understanding. He is always there to listen and helps me through bad days. He has taught me discipline and hard work. It is true what they say – You always have someone waiting for you at the barn. Here’s to the last year in our twenties Dakota! XOXO If you follow me on social media this is no surprise...It’s official. Country Barbie is making a come back. I’ve missed you guys so much! It’s been about two years since we were really active. So first and foremost, let me apologize for disappearing and fill you in on what’s been going on. I did some soul searching. I found my creativity again. Jay and I settled down and bought a house in the beautiful little town of Verbank, New York. (For those of you who follow the horse circuit, we live very close to where the Millbrook Trials are held.) We have a lot of vision for our new home and have been working to finish the rooms one by one. He’s been beyond generous and has allowed me the space to set up a new Country Barbie work area. We moved in at the end of October and just recently were able to finish our spare bedroom. So now comes the fun desk set up and organization. For those of you who are new around here, Country Barbie started in 2012 as a blog for all things country. Whether you rode horses, enjoyed hunting or just loved camo you could find products and brands on our blog. We are getting back to our blogging roots! Helping small brands grow has always been a passion of mine. We will be working with brands and bloggers to bring you our favorite products. If you have a company, product or service and would like to work together please email me at [email protected].

Leave me a comment below with what you are spoiling your other half with this year. Fair season is always bittersweet. It symbolizes one of my favorite past times, as well as the end of summer. Our county fair is always the last weekend in August located in Rhinebeck, NY at the beautiful Dutchess County Fairgrounds. It is one of my more recent traditions to stuff my face with fried raviolis from Coppola's followed by either a big apple crisp or mint chocolate chip on a cone. I have to confess I have not yet braved the 4H lines to get one of the highly sought after milkshakes. On the first day of the fair they listed that they sold over 3,000 milkshakes! I have a feeling I am really missing out. Keep reading to see more from my trip to the Dutchess County Fair!

PEPPERMINTS We all know who this gift is for... And if you wait until after the holiday you can load up on boxes of candy canes with a serious discount. Talk about spoiled... In case you didn't get these goodies under the tree, we are giving away a Christmas box filled with gifts from our sponsors including leather care from Higher Standards, bling stirrups from Steel City and some spa products from Cowgirl Comfort! As soon as October 1st hits I'm all about pumpkins and Halloween, but most importantly... Flannels! Unfortunately...well not really but... we had a fairly warm start to our fall up here in New York, but I am more than happy to say it is finally flannel weather! (Okay, okay so I'm not totally thrilled about the cold... But flannels are just so comfy!) Whether you rock your flannel over your favorite Country Barbie shirt or sport it with an Equestrianista vest, you can't go wrong with a good flannel shirt! I suppose you could always go the hipster route and wear it tied around your waste as well, but personally I think the defeats the purpose. Let me know what your favorite way to wear your flannel is! XOXO CB I know I know. Country Barbies are supposed to look pretty and play dirty, but it's supposed to rain for the next 10 days and all I want to do is be outside! I can't ride my horse, can't ride the dirtbike, can't shoot my bow.... We can;t even line dance on the deck over the river! The rain cancelled my moto ride last weekend and my friends race (I'm praying the rain breaks Sunday like it's supposed to) and Dakota gets to play hookie for the next week too. I can't complain because we had skipped Spring time weather and went straight to summer, but the ground really needs the rain.
Dear Mother Nature - GET IT TOGETHER! It's summer in 3 weeks and it was under 50 this morning -_- What do you do to keep busy when it rains? XOXO, CB |
About the AuthorHey ya’ll, my name is Brittany. I am from a small town in upstate New York, yes NY, no it’s not all city here. I am 29 and grew up in Westchester County, that’s where I get my ‘accent’ from (it’s about an hour north of the Big Apple). I started this page to share the idea that you don’t have to fit a certain mold or standard someone else has. I like pink and sparkles, I surround myself with beautiful things, but I know how to get down and dirty with the best of them. Categories |
